Unit 4 Blog

The loving kindness exercise once again was a very relaxing activity for me.  It made me feel with inner peace, and it helped me to get aware of how much I love myself.  For me it was very beneficial because I am going through a hard emotional situation, and this exercise helped me to get more mind clarity and focus.  It helped me to feel love for others as well.  I would definitely recommend this exercise to anybody, especially to those that need to relax or need inner peace.  People with low self-esteem can take advantage of this exercise, and it will help them too.

On the other hand, our mind as any muscle in the body, if we want it to grow needs to be trained as well.  Therefore, to evolve our psychospiritual life and access to our capacities and resources we need daily mental workout (Dacher, 2006).  “Research studies have demonstrated that mental training help to transform emotions that cause anger, hatred, fear, worry confusion, and doubt while enhancing positive emotions such as patience, loving-kindness, happiness, etc.  To improve my psychological health, I can start practicing 5 to 15 minutes daily until I get comfortable and increase the time.  One of these practices can be loving-kindness (Dacher, 2006).

I rate my physical well-being in seven because I have an ideal weight and I am healthy according with the doctor, but I am not exercising right now and I usually have stress during the day.  My spiritual well-being rate is six because I feel disconnected of spirituality right now.  I am not taking time to meditate, pray, or do any activity to develop my spiritual life.  My psychological well-being is seven as well because I am having up and down in my emotional life lately.

My goal is to achieve at least a nine or ten in each area.  Physically, I want to start exercising and having a peaceful life.  In my spiritual area, I want to start doing meditation and prayer.  Finally, in my psychological area, I want to stabilize my emotional life and have time to read, relax, and learn more.

As I mentioned, meditation is one of the activities I want to implement in my life. Yoga is another activity I would like to be able to do at least three times per week.  Take time to relax and be with myself is something I enjoy, and I want to implement as well.

The experience I had with the relaxation exercise was awesome.  I was able to relax my body completely, feel joy, and inner peace.  In a part of the exercise some tears came to my eyes, probably for a sensitive situation I was having in my personal life. However, the exercise was perfect for the moment. After I finished, I was feeling more peace and relaxation than ever.

What is Wellness?

Wellness is defined as a dynamic process of becoming aware of and making
